Module 4

What is a Digital Storytelling?

Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories.
This can be done through

• Podcasts
• Vodcasts
• iTunes
• YouTube
• ipad

As a teacher's Aide I would use mp3 and mp4 players during group work for maths and reading.
Children can listen to or record themselves reading or for numeracy.
It is envisaged that I will be recording students using the newly purchased Flip cameras as part of classroom assessments.

Module 6

What is Flickr?

'Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community.'

 

Having never used Flickr before and not really considered having a Flickr account.......I've now done both and can see how it can be a very useful tool both for educational purposes  and for personal use at home.

These  photos were taken at Cape Tribulation when I was there on holidays Xmas 2009.

Module 3

What is google docs?

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, form, and data storage service offered by Google.

I can see the value of google docs  used for homework or in the classroom whereby group assignments can be worked on and fine tuned in their own time from home and not interfere with any other important class activities or personal family time.

Module 2

As part of module 2 I had to create a blog.

What is a blog?
"A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. ..."

As a Teacher's Aide I can invisage that a blog would be a  handy tool to use for reading and writing with small groups or individuals.

Although setting up and writing this blog has been fun I would rather be.................

Module 1

Hi my name is Toni and I'm a Teacher's Aide.

As a Teacher's Aide I didn't think I would be asked to participate in the web 2 course, so when I was approached by my A.P it totally sent me into a spin because as everyone knows

"I don't do computer"!#*!!!!!!!

Anyhow, here I am after the initial shock and almost completing module 1, I have found that once you start and get going it doesn't seem so daunting after all or maybe just a little.

What is Gmail ?

What is iGoogle ?
